If you are already enrolled in a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Medicare health plan, please read the information on this website about enrolling in a Medicare Part D prescription plan. It's important that you know that your current coverage is creditable if you are enrolled in the following plans:
Creditable means that the prescription coverage you receive under these plans meets the standards set by the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Coverage is considered creditable if it pays out at least as much as the Medicare prescription benefit will pay out in 2006.
* Closed to new applicants.
Creditable coverage simply means that the prescription coverage you receive under your Medex Gold plan meets the standards set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Coverage is considered creditable if it pays out at least as much as the Medicare prescription benefit will pay out in 2006. This is an important consideration if, at some point, you decide to change your health coverage from your current Medex plan to another plan anytime after May 15, 2006. In addition, you do not need to purchase a Medicare Part D prescription plan, nor will you incur a penalty if you do decide to change your plan at a later date.
If you have questions about your coverage, please call the Member Service number shown on the front of your Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts member ID card.
And, with all the changes taking place in Medicare, this website can help you learn which plan is best for you. The toolbox below was designed to answer many of your questions. To learn more, just click on one of the following links.
